War... War never changes. The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth. Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory. Hitler shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower. But war never changes. In the 21st century, war was still waged over the resources that could be acquired. Only this time, the spoils of war were also its weapons: Petroleum and Uranium. For these resources, China would invade Alaska, the US would annex Canada, and the European Commonwealth would become something like a vulture, bent on controlling the last remaining resources on Earth. A resource war was observed between the European Commonwealth and it's neighboring the Middle Eastern Congress, resulting in the desers from Aleppo to Arabia being covered with radioactive glass and the eastern part of Europe being set ablaze. With half of Europe in flames, some of it's nations quickly began to fend for themselfs and the European Commonwealth began to be a husk of it's former self, now centered only around the western portion that wasn't damaged by the catastrofic nuclear exchange. Even though Ostrava is a quite the eastern city nothing of this 'overworld' drama would shape your family, they already were safe, very far underground, for some time. Under a mass of soil, stone and steel they live peacefully, until now.
